Check behind radiators!
When removing a radiator we discovered a hole 80mm x 80mm, located above the gland plate that the pipes go through. It appears that the hole had been cut in the wrong place and hadn't been patched up, probably as they weren't expecting anyone to take the radiator off of the wall!
Being the inquisitive kind, I then checked behind the remaining 10 radiators, only to find a further 6 with the same size/position hole!!!!!! All of the heat was going up into the wall cavities instead of into the room that it should of been heating!
We contacted TW about the issue and they eventually sent someone in to 'patch the holes up'.
Two years later and we are STILL waiting for the last one to be redone (for the third time) as it had a joiner where they cut the rad pipe too short. Unfortunately they joined it right where the wooden beam is behind the wall, so it sticks out of the wall! So far the plasterer just plasters over the joiner and leaves a massive bulge in the wall! Fair enough, it is behind the rad and you can't see it, but it just proves how much pride they take in their work and the quality of the tradesmen!
Would I recommend Taylor Wimpey? Yes
