Shoddy and unprofessional.
I had the pleasure of purchasing my new build from Taylor Wimpey on Crookham Park in Church Crookham, something I will NOT be doing again.
The sales process was good and they were helpful. However after completion the sales people do not want to know you. You are handed over to Taylor Wimpey's Customer Care. They simply don't care.
The moment I got the keys the house had issues. From unpainted walls to tiling falling off the roof. The stupid thing is that these issues were easily prevented in the first place.
I paid a lot of money for extras in my house but they simply took no pride in fittings these. One example of this is sending a tiler to fit £3k worth of tiling when they've only been doing the job about a month. The floor tiling in lounge, dining room and kitchen was done 5 times and I am still a having issues with it. However they can not replace them now as sold me discontinued stock, so no matching tiling for me.
A good tip if buying a new build is to source all the floorings and extras yourself. You will save tons of money and get the job done to a higher standard using your own tradesman.
Taylor Wimpey will tell you these issues are just small "snags". However I got the house keys the on 23rd August 2013 but could not move in until end of September 2013 due to the amount of issues or "snags" as they Wimpey call them. Something that was not acceptable to me.
Taylor Wimpey customer service sucks too, and that really didn't help the situation at all. Once they have your money they do NOT care about their customers. This is proven by the fact that all of my issues were report within a few months of August 2013 over a year later they were still NOT resolved.
I also found that Wimpey use inferior products, but they sell them as top quality.
Take the carpets for instance, these were sold as luxury deep pile carpets. However these deep pile luxury carpets wore out within a few months, considering I was the only person living in the house this is not quality. The underlay was sold as the best around, but was no thicker than Wafer Ham.
Needless to say these carpets along with the underlay were ripped out and replaced with real top quality products. The fact I had to get a carpenter in to take over 0.5" off the doors in order to fit the new carpets shows how bad their carpets were.
Be warned you are not getting the high quality the Taylor Wimpey Sales people promise.
The whole experience with Taylor Wimpey was not a great one and I don't know how this House Builder gets away with it and how they are actually still in business.
After telling Wimpey I do not want their tradesman in my house I got in my own tradesman at my own expense to put right the issues. Now my house is perfect and just how I wanted it, but no thanks to Wimpey.
Would I recommend Taylor Wimpey? No
